Horizontal Laminar Flow Clean Bench provides maximum protection against airborne particulates and airborne pathogens in an enclosed work space. These work spaces can be a combination of a clean room and an office environment. Clean air laminar flow clean bench provides superior protection against airborne particulates and airborne pathogens. This clean air purifier meets the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) Air Quality Standard for indoor air.
Horizontal Laminar Flow Clean Bench provides superior protection against airborne particulates and airborne pathogens, but they don't offer environmental or personal protection. The reality is that most airborne contaminants, which are found in non-porous and non-vulnerable surfaces, are found in very low concentration in normal air. You won't see a lot of airborne particulates when the air is circulated throughout a typical work area, but you will find them in places with a high concentration of dust and airborne particles, such as the office or warehouse floor.
It's fairly unlikely to see a lot of dust in a typical industrial setting. A contaminated surface will need to be cleaned with a special vacuum device. With the help of a standard handbook on OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) guidelines on clean air, you'll see diagrams of the types of cleaners that are designed to clean specific surfaces, based on OSHA standards. There are three types of cleaners defined in the Handbook on OSHA Safety Standards for Furnaces and other Portable Work Area (PWAS):
The air blower is the most common of these three. You'll see the air blower used for carpet cleaning, floor cleaning, as well as many other industry types of tasks. The air blower typically works with a compressor that pushes air through the compressed air tank, which can reach a pressure of up to nine pounds per square inch.
The chemical hoods filter the air using one or more filters (which may be included or optional). The filters can either be physical or chemical. Physical filters use a fine mesh to trap particles on paper, while chemical filters utilize activated carbon or ozone to trap chemicals in the air. Most chemical hoods filter the entire air flow of the system.
Horizontal laminar flow systems work best with cabinets that have properly attached chemical hoods. OSHA has specific requirements for chemical hoods attached to cabinet work areas. It's important to note that if the cabinet does not have an attached hood, the work area must be ventilated so that worker exposure to dust and fumes are minimized. Forcing air from the environment into the cabinet is dangerous and can be a health hazard.
The front of the biosafety cabinet has two openings: one smaller opening and another larger opening. The smaller opening is where the worker's hand can reach into the cabinet to pull out small devices or instruments. The larger opening is the way the cabin air moves into the front of the biosafety cabinet through the top of the sash. A horizontal flow clean bench can be used in the top opening of the cabinet. If the cabinet has a top opening that is hinged, then the bench can be easily set up so that air from the top of the cabinet flows into the bottom of the cabin through the small opening in the top.
The horizontal laminar flow clean bench meets all of the specifications for meeting the national guidelines for the installation of a biosafety cabinet in Class II areas. It also meets the specifications for meeting the EPA regulations for Class III and Class IV rooms containing hazardous substances. This type of bench has been tested by the EPA and meets all the guidelines for the performance of this type of bench. It also meets the guidelines for meeting the requirements for meeting the EPA regulations for meeting the criteria for Class II and Class III rooms containing biological safety cabinets.
